RPS Research Poster Competition Brief

The BPSA Research Poster Competition is brought to you by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS). It is an exciting opportunity to present your research to your peers and leading members of our profession. This competition provides you with an opportunity to demonstrate the key skills that employers are looking for, such as professional engagement and professional development. If you have conducted any pharmacy practice or clinical research, then make sure you submit your research poster! 


So, how do I enter?

Entrants should be a member of the BPSA and the RPS - studying a Pharmacy degree or undertaking their Foundation Training Year. 

Please email completed posters to competitions@bpsa.co.uk with your full name, university and year of study (e.g. Becky Smith, ex Cardiff University, Foundation Trainee Pharmacist) and include ‘RPS Research Poster Competition’ in the subject line.


Assessment Criteria:

  • Work should be your own and may include projects you have completed during your undergraduate MPharm degree including your Masters (3rd or 4th Year) projects, other undergraduate research (including clinical projects or your dissertations), summer research work or any Foundation Training work within the above field. 

  • Audits or projects (e.g., service evaluation, quality improvement, systematic reviews, etc) you have undertaken during your Foundation Training year.

  • Research topics: 

    • Integration of technology/technology improvement in patient care

    • Pharmacy practice/clinical pharmacy

    • Equality, diversity, and inclusion in pharmacy 

    • Pharmacy education 

    • Sustainability in pharmacy 

  • Please email the Competitions Coordinator for further questions regarding topic eligibility.  

  • Maximum 1 page of A0 in portrait format and no more than 500 words (excluding title, authors, and bibliography/reference list). In-text references will contribute to the word count.

  • Images and tables may be included, and references should use the Vancouver system.

  • Please submit posters in PDF format.


Adjudication process:

Each poster will be judged on the following:

  • How effectively the methodology addresses the stated objectives. 

  • The quality of results obtained and their presentation. 

  • The quality of the analysis of the results in the discussion/conclusion.

  • Potential impact of the project on the pharmacy profession/patient care.

  • Whether the abstract conforms to the poster abstract guidelines outlined above.



The Prize: 

The winner will receive:

  • A free Package 1 ticket to the 83rd BPSA Annual Conference in Swansea.

  • Recognition for their hard work at the BPSA Awards Night, celebrated in front of their peers and BPSA sponsors.

  • The opportunity to attend and showcase their poster at the 2025 RPS Annual Conference!
