Represent
The BPSA regularly represents the views of our members on a range of current topics. We produce our own discussion papers, respond to consultations and attend meetings with stakeholders.
Educate and Entertain
Since its founding in 1942, the BPSA also aims to educate and entertain our members. We organise a wide range of events and services over the course of the year. Further information about our latest events can be found in the events section of our website.
Policies
Policies are voted in by a delegation during the BPSA’s Annual Conference. The Executive is working hard on ensuring these policies are actioned. Feedback from members or input from stakeholders is always welcomed. To contact us with regards to a policy, email policyofficer@bpsa.co.uk.
Constitutions and Regulations
The BPSA Constitutions and Regulations can be found here. Any changes to the Constitution must be made through a working party.
BPSA Executive and Representatives
The BPSA would not be able to exist without our Executive. Made up of 20 members, these are the people who coordinate all of the events and service the BPSA offers. The Executive complete their roles in addition to everyday roles. They are all either completing their university studies, pre-registration training or are newly qualified pharmacists. In addition to the Executive, the BPSA have a network of National and International Representatives who are based throughout UK in every School of Pharmacy.
History
The BPSA was formed in 1942 by delegates from eleven pharmacy schools across the UK, thanks to an initiative of the Student’s Union of the College of the Pharmaceutical Society (now University College London School of Pharmacy). Read more about the BPSA’s work through the decades
Governance
Like any professional organisation the BPSA has governance structures that ensure it undertakes the role it is supposed to, and is working in the best interest of pharmacy students. Not only do we have a Constitution and a set of Regulations, but we also have a number of review and auditing committees that work independently from the Executive, to whom they provide feedback and recommendations. Working Parties
The BPSA has the ability to create 'Working Parties' to tackle a specific task that may require wider input from our members and alumni, or may take longer than one Executive year to complete. This allows the Executive to focus on their roles and move the Association forwards while allowing more complex tasks to be completed in a timely manner. When a working party is opened or a significant change has been made, this will be announced in the announcements section.
If you require any further information on working parties, then please contact the Working Party Chair at workingparty@bpsa.co.uk.
