Initial education and training captures both your time as university, studying your Pharmacy course and your initial training in the workplace, currently known as ‘pre-reg’. The BPSA is a key stakeholder in the reforms to initial education and training, which are being facilitated by the regulator, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
The reforms aim to cover several areas which stakeholders, including the BPSA will shape during the consultation process. The areas included are listed below:
Learning outcomes
Independent Prescribing
Foundation/Year 5
Admissions
Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Support
Post-registration education and training
Funding
As part of the BPSA’s 78th Annual Conference, a webinar was held with representatives from the General Pharmaceutical Council, Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Aston School of Pharmacy. The webinar will soon be published for viewing. You can also find letters published by the GPhC on the 28th of July and 10th of September 2020, as well as an earlier consultation paper from 2019, via the links.
We ask for all members to please complete the BPSA’s survey in order to ensure that we are able to represent you adequately during stakeholder meetings and shape the future of the profession for many years to come!
