Pennine Area News

The Pennine Area has certainly had a successful year. Two hundred and ninety tickets were sold for the autumn conference and 240 for the spring! Students attended from a large variety of Universities, not just the Pennine Area schools. This meant that both conferences were great for networking and catching up with friends from all over the country.

Manchester was the venue for the first conference. The topic was ‘Start of Life’ and covered premature birth, neonatal care and caring for vulnerable patients. The day was topped off with a lively debate, to give everyone a little taster of the BPSA’s Annual Conference.

The second Pennine Area Conference of the year was held at the University of Huddersfield. The ‘End of Life’ topic was a serious one, but the content covered during the day explored common issues in practice. A session on talking about death was followed by a chance to hear what it is really like to care for the dying, first hand. The afternoon sessions included a CPPE workshop and debate on the Liverpool Care Pathway.

This year has seen fantastic levels of participation from all schools in the area, well done to everyone from LJMU, UCLan, Manchester, Huddersfield, and Bradford!
